Savory foods have a spicy or salty flavor, without being sweet

"savory"는 맵고 짠 맛으로 달지는 않다. 사보리란 향식료 식물이 있다.

*bitter 쓴

Bitter describes a strong and sometimes unplaseant flavor that is the opposite of sweet.

"bitter"는 강하고 단맛의 반대이다.

예)coffee, very dark chocolate, beer and citrus peel

*tart 톡쏘는 시큼한

Tart describes a sharp and acidic taste. Sour can also be used, bit it often has a negative meaning.

"tart"는 톡쏘는 신맛이다. "Sour"도 역시 신맛인데 "tart"는 부정적인 의미로 사용되기도 한다.

예) Lemon, Greek yogurt, pickles

*spicy/hot 매운

Spicy is the taste that makes one's mouth burn from strong chilies.

Hot can be used to describe spicy food or food that has a very high temperature.

"spicy"란 입안이 얼얼하게 만드는 맛이다. 강한 고추의 맛이다.

"hot"은 "spicy"를 나타내기도 하고 뜨거운 음식을 나타내기도 한다.

*rancid 산폐한, 맛이 간

Rancid describes the taste of food that has a strong or unprleasant smell or taste because it is no longer fresh.

"rancid"는 상해버려(rotten) 강하고 불쾌한 냄새가 나는 맛이다.

예)The butter is rancid and tastes bad.

*nutty 견과 맛이 나는, 견과가 든

*rich (지방, 버터, 달걀 등이 많이 들어) 기름진, 유지방이 많은
